Paintsville  advances to All ‘A’ championship

Paintsville knocked off East Ridge 9-4 in the 15th Region All “A” Classic semifinals at home Thursday evening. 

The win helped the Lady Tigers advance to the 15th Region All “A” Classic championship against Pikeville Friday. The game ended too late to be included in this edition of the Paintsville Herald.

East Ridge got on the scoreboard first as Kelsi Slone hit an RBI single to give the Lady Warriors an 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. 

Paintsville fired back in the bottom of the second. Clara Blair hit a leadoff single to get things started. Hope Auxier follows with a walk and Mattie Ratliff reached with a bunt single to load the bases. Elizabeth “Swoop” Williams followed with an RBI single to tie the game up at 1-1. The second run scored on an error as Paintsville took a 2-1 lead.

The Lady Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Williams hit and RBI single and the second run scored on a fielder’s choice.

Blair blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to help Paintsville jump out to an 9-1 lead. 

East Ridge added three runs late, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Tigers advanced to the 15th Region All “A” Classic championship.

Paintsville improved to 8-5 on the season with the win.
