LEXINGTON — University of Kentucky senior linebacker Kash Daniel earned a spot on a 2019 Preseason Media Days All-Southeastern Conference Team. Daniel was honored as an All-SEC Third Team selection.

Daniel, a Paintsville High School graduate, is UK’s leading returning tackler from the 2018 season. He ranked third on the team in total tackles (84), behind seniors Josh Allen and Darius West. Daniel also ranked third in tackles for loss (7.5) and was tied for 24th in the SEC in tackles per game (6.3). He accomplished all of this despite playing with a broken left hand sustained against Vanderbilt on Oct. 20.

Daniel helped Kentucky compile a 10-3 record in 2018. The Wildcats defeated Penn State 27-24 in the VRBO Citrus Bowl in Orlando on January 1. Daniel recorded his first career sack in the Wildcats’ postseason victory over Penn State. He started in 12 of 13 games for Kentucky during the 2018 season. Daniel ended the season with double-digit tackles in three games (Central Michigan, Florida and Vanderbilt).

Kentucky is scheduled to kick off the 2019 season versus visiting Toledo on August 31.
