Johnson Central splits double-header with Sheldon Clark

Johnson Central’s Kelci Blair gets tangled up with a Sheldon Clark player as the two battle for position Monday evening at home. Johnson Central cruised to a 7-0 win over the Lady Cardinals.

Johnson Central hosted Sheldon Clark on a rainy Monday night. 

The Lady Golden Eagles came out with a 7-0 win, but the Johnson Central boys fell to Sheldon Clark 4-3 win penalty kicks.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, and with just over 10 minutes left in the half when Lauren Johnson scored off a corner kick to make it 2-0. 

Just three minutes later it was Johnson again for the Lady Eagles with another score jumping it up to 3-0. 

Kelci Blair made a heads up play after a missed shot by Johnson Central to score with just over two minutes left to make it 4-0. 

The Lady Cardinals were unable to contain Johnson Central as Johnson again made her way down the field scoring again with just under a minute left to make it 5-0 at the half. The Lady Cards were unable to mount an offense, and Johnson Central pulled out to a 7-0 win.

Johnson Central’s Lady Eagle soccer team continue to dominate on the field after the Sheldon Clark beat down. The Lady Eagles have yet to lose a game this season, going 11-0-1. Their one tie coming from the hands of Ashland Blazer earlier in the season.

Johnson Central struggled to pull away from the Cardinals, having to settle for a shootout that ultimately saw the Cardinals win. 

Johnson Central got on the board first with Jake Headly scoring with 14 minutes left in the first half. Sheldon Clark struck back with a score by Bobby Hale. Headly scored again with just 1:14 left in the first half to make it 2-1. 

Sheldon Clark was able to come back and tie things up, resulting in a shootout. Sheldon Clark outscored the Golden Eagles to give Johnson Central the loss. 

The Golden Eagles are now 4-6 on the season and play Morgan County away on Wednesday night, Sept. 19th at 6:45 p.m.
