Class 4A: Bourbon County at Johnson Central

Coaches: Bourbon County, John Hodge. Johnson Central, Jim Matney.

Notes: Bourbon County is coming off of a 40-0 loss to George Rogers Clark, while Johnson Central is coming off of a big 34-21 win over Belfry.

The playoffs mean its a new season. Johnson Central has its eyes on one thing, the Class 4A state title.

That means Bourbon County is the first step.

Bourbon County has been outscored by its opponents 372-207 this season.

Colonel quarterback Jake Broughton leads the way for Bourbon County. He is 92 for 185 passing for 1,113 yards and 10 TDs with five interceptions. He also has 142 rushing yards on 61 carries.

Running back CaMarr Myers leads the Colonel running attack with 1,141 yards and 18 TDs on 185 carries.

Three players have more than 300 yards receiving for Bourbon County. Bryce Roy leads the team with 26 catches for 339 yards and a TD. Kaygen Heflin follows with 28 catches for 334 yards and three TDs. Myers has added 19 catches for 314 yards and four TDs.

Myers also leads the team on defense with 59 tackles and an interception. Roy has added 43 tackles and an interception.

The Golden Eagles are entering the playoffs with a lot of momentum. In the last two regular season games, Johnson Central has wins over Ashland Blazer and Belfry. 

Two tough tests.

Look for Johnson Central to come out focused and ready on making a long playoff run.

Johnson Central has played in the last three Class 4A state championship games; winning the state title in 2016.

Joe Jackson was the standout in the 2016 state championship game for the Golden Eagles. Jackson got hurt in the opening game last season and missed the rest of the year. 

Jackson has made an incredible return this season. Jackson has rounded back into form. 

Jackson leads the team with 1,388 yards rushing and 19 TDs on 149 carries. He has also added seven catches for 88 yards and two TDs.

Junior quarterback Ryley Preece has had a good season as well. Preece is 36 for 70 passing for 603 yards and four TDs with four interceptions. Preece has added 614 yards rushing with 13 TDs on 64 carries. 

Devin Johnson has 629 rushing yards with seven TDs on 61 carries. Bryce Tackett has 324 yards and four TDs on 47 carries. Dillon Preston has 195 yards and three TDs on 20 catches.

Ryan Sartin-Slone leads the Johnson Central receivers with 10 catches for 255 yards. Evan Adkins has five catches for 85 yards and a TD.

Matt Horn leads the Golden Eagle defense with 83 tackles and 9.5 sacks. Johnson follows with 74 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Alex Horn has 71 tackles and six sacks. Hunter McCloud has 60 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions.

Who 2 Watch: The Horns, Matt and Alex.

They have been outstanding on defense.

Look for them to set the tone for coming out and playing tough team defense.

They get to the ball and bring the opposing player down.

They both can tackle and get to the quarterback during pass rush situations.

If Matt and Alex Horn have big games, look for the Golden Eagles to roll to the second round of the playoffs.
