Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1, 12 p.m. at the Preston Funeral Home Chapel for David Lee Bowens, 47, of West Van Lear, who died Monday, Oct. 28 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Burial was in the family cemetery at Hazel Green.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 28, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Loraine Harris, 88, of Flat Gap, who died Friday, Oct. 25 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Loraine was born Feb. 9, 1931 in Lowmansville, daughter of the late Elbert and Oma Salyers Murray. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow Harris; one daughter, Betty Jo Harris; three brothers, Paul Murray, Clarence Murray and Thomas Murray; four sisters, Hermalee Ross, Neva Lena Guisto, Maxine Ripley, and Irene Slone.

She is survived by one son, Tony (Patricia) Harris of Flat Gap; one daughter, Teresa (Curt) Kitchen of Flat Gap; three grandchildren, Casey Kitchen of Flat Gap, Tara (Ralph) Whitaker of Flat Gap, and Jennifer (Matthew) Lawson of Richmond; three great-grandchildren, Trinity Grim, Rayanna Whitaker and Gabriel Whitaker; three brothers, Robert (Burnett) Murray of Dayton, Ohio, Troy Ray Murray of Columbus, Ohio, and Phillip (Judy) Murray of Springfield, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Thelma Murray of Paintsville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Loraine was a long-time member of the Old Hood United Baptist Church and a member of the Red Bush Busy Bees Homemakers. She was a beloved mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a devoted wife to her beloved husband.

The service was officiated by Tim Salyers and Virgil Ferguson Jr., with burial in the Salyers Cemetery at Sitka.

Marthalene Phelps Preston, age 89, of Paintsville, died Monday, October 28, 2019 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.

She was born Dec. 16, 1929 in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Bruce and Laura Belle Webb Phelps. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Lloyd Preston; two brothers, Bruce Alvis Phelps and Denzel Phelps; and one sister, Ernestine Blair.

Surviving are one son, David Bruce (Marie) Preston of Versailles; two daughters, Susie (Paul) Greer and Cheryl Ann Preston, both of Paintsville; and two grandchildren, Jarrett Greer of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lauren Clark of Louisville.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with Aaron Davis and Jeff White officiating.

Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Anna Belle Lyons Puckett, age 91, of Pikeville, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Mrs. Puckett was born in Paintsville, August 3, 1928, daughter of the late Florida and Anna Vanhoose Lyons. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Pikeville. In addition to her parents, Anna Belle was also preceded in death by her husband, Lacy E. Puckett, September 2, 2018; four sisters, Faye Preston, Cora Lee Walters, Nora Lee Lyons and Peggy Wallen.

Anna Belle Lyons Puckett’s survivors include two sons, Gary E. Puckett and his wife, Debbie of Pikeville, Michael Puckett and his wife, Dorsie, of Richmond; one daughter, Diana Jean Harmon of Winchester; seven grandchildren, Melissa Adkins, Amy Harmon, Solina Cole, Jeremy Puckett, Tyler Puckett, Jordan Puckett and Bryce Puckett; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Wanda Peters of Grayson, Linda Spencer of Belleville, Mich., and Kay Hitchcock of Paintsville. Special caregivers, Teresa Hopkins, Shana Adkins, and Rella Jarrell.

The active pallbearers were Willis Adkins, Jeremy Puckett, Tyler Puckett, Doug Cole, Jordan Puckett, Bryce Puckett, Isaac Puckett, Matthew Puckett, Kain Cole and Kaleb Cole.

Visitation was at the J. W. Call & Son Funeral Home, Monday, Oct. 28.

The funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019, with Jared Arnett officiating at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Highlands Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the New Beginnings Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 1398, Pikeville, KY 41502.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 30, 12 p.m. at Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Marvin Dwain “Buddy Boy” Saylor, 62, of Oil Springs, who died Saturday, Oct. 23 at his residence.

Mr. Saylor was born June 23, 1957 in Paintsville, son of the late Marvin and Magdalene Blair Saylor.

Survivors include: the mother of his children, Sherry Saylor; one son, Kevin Dixon; three daughters, Lisa Hatfield, Marla Saylor and Brittany Saylor; one brother, Sheriff Doug Saylor; 11 grandchildren, Jordan Henson, Abby Henson, Isaiah Dixon, Elizjah Dixon, Breanna Hicks, Ruby Hatfield, Maggie Saylor, Samuel Dixon, Silas Dixon, Maddie Saylor, Maralee Saylor; one great-grandchild, Kyan Link; and two special cousins, Ray Saylor and Allen Saylor.

The service was officiated by Kevin Hazelett, with burial in the Saylor/Blair Cemetery at Oil Springs.
