Madilyn Boswell

Funeral services were held Friday, March 15, 2019, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Madilyn Dawn Boswell, 2-1/2 mo. old infant daughter of Ray and Donna Vanhoose Boswell, of Lowmansville, who died Friday, March 8, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio.

Madilyn was born December 28, 2018 in Prestonsburg.

Surviving in addition to her parents are one sister, Skylar Rae Boswell; paternal grandparents, Lisa and Keith Mollett of Staffordsville, and maternal grandparents, Carolyn Sue and Donald Gene Vanhoose of Lowmansville; and two uncles, Mark and Jason Vanhoose.

Burial will follow the service at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Harry Estep

1941-2019

Harry B. Estep, age 77, formerly of Johnson County, died at his home in Pataskala, Ohio, on March 7, 2019. 

He was born on April 6, 1941 to John and Cova Cantrell Estep. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, John and Cova Cantrell Estep; one daughter, Sherry Saint John; one son, Paul David Fraley; and one brother, Bryan Estep.

Harry is survived by his loving wife, Brenda McKenzie Estep; one son, Duane Fraley; four daughters, Sheila Graham, Michelle (Jeremy) Talbott, Sonya (Dave) McCutcheon, and Kimberly Bell; one daughter-in-law, Shelly Fraley; three sisters, Mary (Garrel) Williams, Catherine (Jessie) Salyers, and Charlotte (Bill) Prater; 10 grandchildren, Kyle (Jackie) Talbott, JD Talbott, Billie (Lori) Graham, Todd Hempfield, Christi Durfee, Christian Fraley, Caden Fraley, Kimber Fraley, Brittany Stewart and David Fraley; nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Lydia, Emma, Cater, Kohan, Hudson, Elizabeth, Amisa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry was a truck driver for over half of his life and happily retired from Kroger’s after driving truck for them for many years. He also loved doing remodeling work on houses. But his proudest achievement was leaving testimony for the Lord when he was saved on May 14, 2004. Harry was a faithful member of Reynoldsburg Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 11 a.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, with Tim Salyer officiating. Burial was in the Patty Flat Cemetery at Fuget.

Josephine Hopson

September 2, 1939 – March 14, 2019

Josephine Elizabeth Hopson, age 79, of Hagerhill, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born September 2, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Smith and Pauline (Thomas) Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, William Smith and Andrew Smith.

Josephine is survived by her husband, Fircheld Samuel Hopson; one son, Bryan (Dana) Taylor of Hagerhill; four daughters: Jo Yvonne Burke of Winchester, Patsy (David) Jackson of Salyersville, Melanie (Steve) Slone of Boonscamp; one half-sister, Paula Sholler of Wilmington, Ohio; two half-brothers, Larry Miller and Kelly Smith of Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, in the chapel for the Phelps and Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens, Louisa. Friends may visit the Phelps and Son Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and until the time of service on Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps and Son Funeral Home.

Robert Jones Jr.

1950-2019

Funeral services were held Friday, March 1, 1 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home in Louisa, for Robert Gene “Easy Rider” Jones Jr., 68, of Louisa, who died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019.

Mr. Jones was born June 2, 1950 in Paintsville to Betty Jones and the late Bob Jones. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Fouch Jones in 2009; and a brother, John Jones.

He is survived in addition to his mother by, his daughter, Cindy (Joe) Burke; brother, Billy Jones; sister, Elizabeth Jones; grandson, Robert O’Brien; four granddaughters, Jessica O’Brien, Kaylyn Williams, Preston Williams, and Gretchen Williams; three great-grandsons, Greyson and Mason O’Brien and Hunter Daniels; sister-in-law, Patty Jones; and a nephew, John Johns II.

Easy Rider was a truck driver, who loved trucks and his family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother and being around his grandchildren. He also had a saying that he would always say, “Hard times on easy street.” He will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

Burial was at the Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova, W. Va., with Jimmy Vanhoose officiating.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 14, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Paintsville, for William Jude, 70, of Paintsville, formerly of Martin County, died Tuesday, March 12 at his residence.

Burial was in the Jude-Fletcher Cemetery at Pilgrim.

Randy Richmond Sr.

1954-2019

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 12, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Randy Lee Richmond, Sr., of Van Lear, who died Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 2, 1954 in Shelby, Ohio, son of Shirley Krouse Richmond of Ohio, and the late Hobert Richmond. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, James William Douglas Daniel and Julia Castle.

Surviving in addition to his mother are, his wife, Janet Daniel Richmond of Clarksville, Tenn.; ex-wife, Linda Francis Castle; five sons, Randy Lee Richmond Jr. of Thelma, Benjamin Andrew Richmond and Gary Eugene Richmond, both of Sitka, and John Paul Richmond and Jerry Michael Richmond, both of Paintsville; two daughters, Melinda Richmond of Flat Gap, and Melissa Francis of Ohio; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

The service was officiated by Hubert Slone, with burial at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 11 a.m. at the Southside Free Will Baptist Church for Ethel Marie Wiley, 89, of Paintsville, who died Thursday, March 14 at Mountain Manor of Paintsville.

Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.
