Betty Baldridge


Betty Adams Baldridge, age 87, of Euclid Avenue, Paintsville, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at her home. 

Funeral services were conducted 12p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with entombment at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.

Jessica Buchanan


Jessica Ann Bostic Buchanan, age 34, of Van Lear, died Wednesday, April 3 at her residence.

She was the wife of Corey Daniel Buchanan. She was born June 7, 1984 in Williamson, W.Va., daughter of Barry and Donnita Bevins Bostic of Paintsville. 

Jessica was a graduate of Johnson Central High School and Morehead State University. She was also a member of Paintsville Church of Christ.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by one sister, Ashley (Kyle) Adams of Paintsville; maternal grandparents, Donnie (Zondra) Bevins of Richmond, and Opal Bevins of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; paternal grandmother, Sue Bostic of Stone; parents-in-law, Kathy and Mark Reed of Meally; sisters-in-law, Keely (Robert) Montgomery of Italy, and Caitlyn and Makayla Reed, both of Meally; niece and nephews, Sebastian and Aubrey Adams, Carson, Riley, and Lucas Montgomery; beloved fur babies, Ditto and Dolly, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

Jessica was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Bostic; and maternal aunt, Martha Bevins Milward.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 at the Paintsville Church of Christ, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Mark McKenzie officiated.

Offie Jarrell


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 1 p.m. at the Sammy Clark Free Will Baptist Church for Offie Jarrell, 87, of Dana, who died Saturday, April 6 at his residence.

Burial will be in the Boyd-Kidd Cemetery at Dana.

Flora Dixon Osborne


Flora Dixon Osborne, age 98 of Hager Hill, died peacefully at her home on Monday April 8, 2019. Born December 30, 1920 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Jenny Daniels Dixon. In addition to her parents, Flora is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Frank Osborne; sisters, Lizzie, Virgie, Addie, Martha, Rose Ann, Magie and Hattie Wraye; brothers, Peter, George Isom, Edgar, Raymon, and Elmo.

Those who survive are, her daughter, Lilly Laudermilt of Hager Hill; two brothers, Walter (Charlotte) Dixon of Georgia and Chester Dixon of Texas; one granddaughter, Charity (Derek) Donnelly of Hager Hill; two grandsons, Frank (Beth) Fraley of North Carolina and Jeffrey Laudermilt of Paintsville; four great-grandchildren, Layla Laudermilt, Blake Donnelly, Dawton Fraley and Mason Fraley; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday April 11, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Osborne Family Cemetery at Hager Hill. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday. B. Joe Hill will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

William Howard Reed, age 77, of Hidden Valley Road, Paintsville, died Monday, April 8, 2019 at his home. 

 Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Tutor Key Community Baptist Church with Arthur Scarberry and Jason Auxier officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.

Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.
