Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 5, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Billy Ray Hayden, 53, of Louisa, died Friday, Aug. 2 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

The service was officiated by Teddy Preston and Mike Spradlin, with burial in the Hayden Family Cemetery at Meally.

Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

Elizabeth Loper

Elizabeth Ellen Loper, 95, passed away on July 30, 2019 in Orange Park, Fla. She was born Elizabeth Lemaster in Oil Springs.

World War II brought her to Dayton, Ohio, where she aided the war effort as an aircraft engine mechanic. She later devoted her life to raising her two children, while pursuing her love of animals, painting, and interior decorating.

Mrs. Loper was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Herman Loper; and is survived by her son, Mark Loper; daughter, Karen Colburn; sister, Marion Tackett; and three grandchildren.  

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8 from 10 a.m., until the time of Funeral Services at 10:30 a.m. at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 East Main Street, Fairborn, Ohio.

Burial will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, 8200 West National Rd, New Carlisle, OH.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 9, 1 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Bonita Rice, 71, of Prestonsburg, who died Monday, Aug. 5 at Pikeville Medical Center.

Mrs. Rice was born March 12, 1948 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Graden and Edith Baldridge Elkins. She was a member of the Little Paint First Church of God.

Surviving are her husband, John Thomas “Tom” Rice; one daughter, Ramona (John Michael) Laney of Paintsville; one sister, Ivanell “Nell” Rice of East Point; two nieces, Susan (Troy) Williams of Staffordsville and Janie (Randy) Tincher of East Point.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 8, 6-9 p.m. and until time of service on Friday.

The service will be officiated by Charlie Heater and Jeff White, with burial in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.
