Lorene Trimble Carney, age 89, of Barnetts Creek, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2019 in Lexington.

Lorene was born July 11, 1930 in Johnson County, daughter of the late Bruce C. and Norsie Reed Trimble. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Gaye Lynn White and three brothers, Davis Reed Trimble, Granvil C. Trimble, and Paul Wade Trimble.

She is survived by one sister, Georgene McKenzie of Barnetts Creek; one brother, John Mark Trimble of Paintsville; one son, Jimmy (Debbie) Carney of Ramsey, Ind.; five grandchildren John, Heidi, Tracey, Jamie and Justin; four great grandchildren Lilly, Taylor, Aiden and Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Seth Carter officiating. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to Alzheimer’s Association by contacting Jones-Preston Funeral Home at 606-789-3501.

Mildred Cavins Grimm, 75, of Sitka, died Saturday, Oct. 19 at Riverview Healthcare Facility in Prestonsburg.

Born December 3, 1943 in Johnson County, daughter of the late George and Mary Cox Cavins. In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Grimm; one brother, Virgil Ray Cavins; and one great-nephew, Leeland Randall Clark.

She is survived by one sister, Nancy (and Frank) Lemaster of Sitka; two special cousins, Larry Meade and Gary Meade; and seven nieces and nine nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Paintsville, with Harold Salyers officiating. Burial was in the Lemaster Family Cemetery at Sitka.

David Michael Jones, age 61, of Pickle Fork, Staffordsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Highland ARH Regional Medical Center.   David was born February 19, 1958 in Pike County, Kentucky, son of the late Carl Prichard and Deloris Kay Sadler Jones. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Walker Jones and one sister, Judith Kay Jones Burton.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Colvin Jones; two sons, Travis Michael Jones of Staffordsville, Kentucky and Christopher David Jones and wife Sarah of Chesapeake, Virginia; two daughters, Ashlea Morgan Crutcher and husband Trevor of Richlands, North Carolina and Kellie Renae Freeman and husband Joshua of Hartwell, Georgia; one brother, Carl Prichard Jones, Jr of Chesapeake, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Kylie Jacqueline Jones and Riley Michael Jones.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2019 in the Jones-Preston Funeral Chapel with Joe Harman and Richard McKenzie officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky.   Friends may visit the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.

Wilma “Sis” Jane Freeman Lilly, 63, of Olive Hill, KY, entered into rest, Saturday morning, October 19, 2019 at the University of Louisville Hospital.  She was born January 5, 1956, in East Point, a daughter to the late Jesse James Freeman and Geraldine Patrick Freeman.

Wilma was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ at East Point. She co-owned a grocery store and managed Hoss Cats in Grayson.  In her spare time she loved attending auctions, going to yard sales and playing Rook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother; Jimmy Junior Freeman.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years; Charles Wilmer Lilly, two sons; Charles David Lilly and John Travis Lilly, six sisters; Linda Sue Mathis (Lonnie) of Winchester, Judy Ann Mann (Larry) of Virginia, Donna Maddix of Olive Hill, Janice Carroll Hammond (Harlan) of Paintsville, Alma Lee Hammond (Max) of Olive Hill and Lynn Turner Conley (Todd) of Paintsville, three brothers; John Wayne Freeman (Connie) of Kansas, James Robert Freeman (Donna) of Paintsville and Terry S. Freeman (Joyce) of West Liberty, and two grandchildren to whom she raised as her own; Christian Blake Lilly and Mayzie Ann Lilly.  In addition to these, she leaves behind several special friends; Hobart and Sonia Dean, Willis and Bonnie Bond, Lonnie and Karen Tackett, and the Rayburn Family.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Duvall and Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Rev. Larry Mann officiating.

Burial followed in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Grayson.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in Wilma’s memory to Duvall and Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service to offset final expenses.

Alice Marie Ratliff, age 62, of Denver, died Monday, October 21, 2019 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.

Alice was born Aug.20, 1957 in Johnson County to Anna Mae Spradlin Blair of Denver and the late Elbert Blair. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Arnold Lee Blair; and one sister, Ruth Ann Eden.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Edward Lee Ratliff; one daughter, Ashley Jessie of West Virginia; three brothers, Elbert Junior (Leona) Blair, Paul (Linda) Blair, and Hobert (Kathy) Blair, all of Denver; two sisters, Dottie Ratliff of Denver and Deborah Ratliff of Staffordsville; one grandchild, Karmen Jean Basham; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The service was held Friday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Topsy Ratliff Cemetery at Denver.

Arrangements under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.
