Wanda Delong

1945-2018

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, 3 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Wanda Lee Craft Delong, 73, of Delong Road, Hagerhill, who died Sunday, Oct. 21 at Community Hospice Center in Ashland.

Surviving are by husband, Jim Delong; four sons, Edward palmer of Delany Springs, Fla., Paul Kevin Palmer of Sitka, Timothy Palmer of West Van Lear, and Phillip Brian Palmer of Van Lear; step-son, James Robert Delong of Sitka; two step-daughters, Trisha Michelle Kennard, and Sherri Lanetta Coleman, both of Prestonsburg; one brother, Larry Craft of Meally.

The service was officiated by Harry Neal Frisby, with burial following in the Craft Family Cemetery at Meally.

Bonita Hackworth

1963-2018

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 26 at Elizabeth Church at Martha, for Bonita Sue Sparks Hackworth, 54, of Martha, who died Monday, Oct. 24 at her residence.

Burial was in the Sparks Family Cemetery at Martha.

Henry Hannah

1934-2018

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 25, 2018, 2 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Henry Edward Hannah, 84, of Hagerhill, who died Tuesday, Oct. 23 at his residence.

Mr. Hannah was born in Johnson County, son of the late Edgar and Mary Alice Merritt Hannah. He was a member of the Rockhouse Free Will Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Florence King Hannah; two sisters, Alene Click and Audrey Prater; one grandchild, Rickey Butcher Jr.; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Bradley Meek.

Surviving are four daughters, Mary Beth (Rick) Reed, Penny Marsillett, Miranda (Adam) Meek, all of Johnson County, and Sandra (John) Butcher-Pack of Austin, Ind.; two brothers, Robert Hannah and Wilkie Hannah of Johnson County; one sister, Carmalee Blair of Johnson County; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The service was officiated by Jimmy McKenzie and Richard Williams, with burial in the family cemetery at Hagerhill.

Shirley McKenzie

1950-2018

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 11 a.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for Shirley McKenzie, 68, of Red Bush, who died Tuesday, October 23 at her residence.

Mrs. McKenzie was born January 21, 1950 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of the late Elmo and Pauline Parker Sagraves. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold Sagraves.

Surviving are her husband, Ellis McKenzie; three daughters, Diana McKenzie Howard, Kimberly McKenzie Kelly, and Jennifer McKenzie Armes, all of Red Bush; three brothers, Jimmy Sagraves, Gary Sagraves, and Ronnie Sagraves, all of Flat Gap; four sisters, Judy Roberts, Terri Salyers, and Bonnie Click, all of Flat Gap, and Phyllis Hall of Clintwood, Va.; eight grandchildren, Cody Sowards, Dustin Hill, Ashley, Greiner, Brittany Howard, Claudia McKenzie, Libby McKenzie, T. J. McKenzie and Anthony Buckner; and six great-grandchildren, Jett Greiner, Grayson Howard, Bentley Hill, Weston Lemaster, Kyson Howard and Kyla Creech.

The service will be officiated by Derrick Meade, with burial to follow in the McKenzie Family Cemetery at Red Bush.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 28, 2:30 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Jerry Michael Scott, 64, of Salyersville, who died Thursday, Oct. 25 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.

Burial was in the Scott Cemetery at Bradley.

Jewell Ramey

1922-2018

Jewell Brugh Ramey, 96, of Paintsville, went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2018. 

Jewel was born February 11, 1922 at Sitka, daughter of the late Samuel and Rosie Estep. She was a member of the Thealka Free Will Baptist for 75 plus years, where she was very involved. Jewel was active with the Clean Organization for the past eight years. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Ramey, and first husband, Raymond Brugh; one granddaughter, Kelly Moore Castle; two sons-in-law, Jimmy Adkins and James Blair; six brothers, and five sisters.

Surviving are three daughters, Kay Adkins and Regina Blair, both of Paintsville, and Phyllis (Doug) Horn of Lexington; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and one special friend and neighbor, Barbara Baldridge.

Burial was in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Beulah Selvage

1934-2018

Graveside services were held Friday, Oct. 19, 3 p.m. at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at Staffordsville for Beulah Adams Selvage, 84, of Hagerhill, who died Tuesday, October 16 at her residence.

She was born in Johnson County, daughter of the late Lester and Marsha Fairchild Adams. Beulah was the widow of J. C. Selvage.

She was a retired employee of the Paintsville Board of Education, where she worked as a payroll clerk/secretary, and was a member of Tom’s Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Beulah was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Catherine Selvage; three brothers, John Adams, Hondel Adams, and Andrew Adams; and one sister, Evelyn McClure.

Surviving are one daughter, Jamie (Joe) Selvage Meade of Hagerhill; and two grandchildren, Kelley (Tonya Bledsoe) Meade, and Jordan Meade.

By request of the family, contributions can be made to the funeral home to offset funeral expenses.

Burial will be in the Skaggstown Cemetery at Keaton.
