Patsy McFaddin Blanton Caudill, age 86, of Salyersville, passed away on August 28 at her home.

She was born in Johnson County in 1932 to Tomie and Emaline Robinson McFaddin.  

Patsy was a retired employee with G. C. Murphy Company and a member of the State Road United Baptist Church in Magoffin County.

She is preceded in death by husbands, Rex Blanton and Hager Caudill; grandson Matthew Conley; granddaughter Sarah Ashley Blanton; great-grandchild Garet Conley; stepson, David Caudill; stepdaughter, Connie Coppeler; step grandson, Mitchel Pachuta; four brothers, Tomie McFaddin Jr, Eugene McFaddin, Robert McFaddin and James McFaddin; and  one sister, Nancy McFaddin.

Patsy is survived by one son, Daryl (Valerie) Blanton of Oil Springs; two daughters, Donna (Ron) Conley of Flat Gap and Dana (Bryan) Taylor of Hager Hill; two grandsons, Mark Conley and Michael Blanton; four granddaughters, Heather Conley, Crystal Todd, Carrie Caudill and Elise Hatten; 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Frances (John) Arnold of Springfield, Ohio; one step daughter Linda (Mark) Pachuta of Indiana; four step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; and  special church sisters,  and a host of friends and family.

Friends may call at the Paintsville Funeral Home on Friday, August 30 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 31 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 31 at 1 p.m. in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will immediately follow in the Roscoe Blanton Cemetery at Low Gap.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to the State Road United Baptist Church by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August, 31, 2 p.m. at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home Chapel for William C. “Bill” Estep, 82, of Flat Gap, who died Wednesday, Aug. 28 at his residence.

Mr. Estep was born April 23, 1937 in Johnson County, son of the late E. L. Woodford Estep and Grace Blair Estep. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Harold E. Estep; one sister-in-law, Susan Estep; and one sister, Phyllis Ruth Estep.

Bill was a retired lineman from Foothills Communications, where he worked for 40 years. He was also a US Army veteran, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Masons, and a volunteer with the Rescue and Fire Department.

Surviving are his loving wife, Barbara Hager Estep; two sons, Robert H. W. “Bob” (Denise) Estep, and William Samuel “Sam” Estep; one daughter, Rebecca Kaye Estep; all of Flat Gap; one brother, Dr. Carrol (Wanda) Estep of Centerville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Cody Wallace, Morgan Leigha Estep, William Tyler Estep, Rileigh June Estep, and Jackson Edward Estep.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Big Sandy Chapter 18 DAV.

The service will be officiated by Zach Collins, with burial in the Blanton Branch Cemetery at Oil Springs.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Paintsville for Joann Leget Hall, 75, of Paintsville, who died Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Community Hospice Center in Ashland.

Joann was born July 3, 1944 in Louisa, daughter of the late Lee Workman and Daisy Mae Kelly Frazier. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hall; one brother, Garland “Buck” Workman; and one sister, Bessie Lee Moore.

Surviving are one daughter, Lisa (Chris) Carter of Prestonsburg; one son, Michael (Renee) Leget of Salisbury, N.C.; three sisters, Phyllis Hughes of Marion, Ohio, Lucille Young of Louisa, and Gale Dixon of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Seth Carter, Jacob Leget and Grace Leget; and two great-grandchildren, Brody Carter and Bentley Carter.

The service will be officiated by Seth Carter.

Dr. John Oliver Jones, 86, of Russell, died peacefully, August 29, at his home following a sudden illness.

Dr. John was born August 5, 1933 in Paintsville, a son of the late Terry and Katheryn Borders Jones. He was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church and a US Air Force veteran. Dr. Johnson was a 1952 graduate of Paintsville High School, a 1956 graduate of Centre College where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and a 1960 graduate of the University of Louisville Medical School. Over his career of nearly 60 years in the medical field, not only did Dr. John help heal those in need, but he also touched more hearts and made more friends through his compassion and conversation.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Patricia McNamara Jones; two brothers, Dr. Henry Jones and Douglas Jones; a sister, Mary Rebecca Lewis.

Surviving are two daughters, Jeri Jones Craft of Russell and Janet Jones (Brian) Tipton of Ashland; two sons, Christopher Allen (Andrea) Jones of Flatwoods, Gary Quesinberry of Palm Harbor, Fla.; six grandchildren, Allyson (Jason) Eyermann, Kyle Tipton, Cailtin Jones, Leighton Craft, Alex Jones, and Madeline Tipton; two great-grandchildren, Leo Eyermann and Aubree Fetters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 12:30 p.m. at the Calvary Episcopal Church by Rev. T. J. Azar, with burial, with full military honors by Post 93 America Legion, Kenova W.Va. and the United States Air Force, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening after 6 p.m. at Preston Family  Funeral Home, Ashland.

Contributions may be made in Dr. John’s memory to Calvary Episcopal Church, 1337 Winchester Avenue, Ashland, KY 41101.
