Gail Eldon Blair, 77, of Staffordsville, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021.

He was born in Johnson County, Dec. 22, 1943, to the late Carl Blair and Ella Louise Horn Blair.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Fern May.

He is survived by eight brothers, Francis (Phyllis) Blair, of Barnetts Creek, Gerald Blair, of Wakeman, Ohio, Phillip (Patsy) Blair, of Hager Hill, John (Kathy) Blair, of Barnetts Creek, Rick Blair, of Fayetteville, N.Car., Robie (Wanda) Blair, of Hager Hill, Carl (Alicia) Blair Jr., of Asa Creek, and Neal (Molly) Blair, of Nippa; four sisters, Kathy (Lindsey) Meade, of Flat Gap, Cheryl Johnson, of Barnetts Creek, Jean Dawson, of Hager Hill, and Polly (Cecil) Adams, of West Van Lear.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, 2021, in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blair Family Cemetery at Staffordsville. Lindsey Meade will officiate.

Friends may visit at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

Bobby Joe Howard, 46, of Paintsville, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

He was born in Floyd County, June 30, 1975, to the late Wendell Howard and Stella Daniels Howard.

Bobby is survived by one daughter, Ella Kate Howard “Katie Bug”, of Sitka; one brother, Tim Howard, and his wife, Michelle, of Paintsville; one nephew, Josh Howard; two nieces, Tabitha Marcum and Alexis Howard; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 27, 2021, in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Jim McKenzie officiated.

Lisa Ann (Bush) Shepherd, 58, of Paintsville, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.

She was born in Johnson County, Dec. 2, 1962, the daughter of the late Jesse James Bush and Georgia Webb Bush.

In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Conley; one grandson, Tyler Jason Grace; one brother, Jimmy Bush; and one sister, Wilma Richmond.

She is survived by two daughters, Brandy Conley, of Paintsville, and Chrystal Conley, of East Point; her significant other, Harold Taylor; three brothers, Tommy Bush, of Flat Gap, Johnny Bush, of Auxier, and Paul Bush, of Paintsville; three sisters, Cleva Mae Caudill, of Tutor Key, Debbie Ratliff, of Hager Hill, and Regina Bush, of Salyersville; and four grandchildren, Alexis Riley Klinger, Nicholas Harley Klinger, Garrett Paul Klinger and Gage Music.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Bush Family Cemetery, Thealka. Gary Blair officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home of Paintsville.

He was born in Floyd County, March 19, 1981. He was the son of Wanda Susie Wright and the late Richard Skaggs.

In addition to his father, Jason was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Skaggs Jr; and grandparents, James and Georgeann Salyers and Leo and Ywan Skaggs.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda Susie Wright, and step-father, Greg Wright; his wife, Brionna Renee' Lyons Skaggs; and two sons, Damion Kane Skaggs and Kreed Bradley Skaggs, both of Staffordsville.

Jessica Yates, 65, of Staffordsville, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

She was born August 11, 1956, in Johnson County, the daughter of Mary Cathryen Williams Melvin and the late Douglas G. Melvin.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Yates (April 25, 2020.)

Jessica is survived by her mother, Mary Cathryen Williams Melvin, of Staffordsville; one son, Jason (Donna) Fairchild, of Paintsville; one daughter, Angie (Shawn) Hall, of River; two sisters: Gina (Jeff) McFaddin, of Paintsville, and Cynthia (Jim) Brown, of Staffordsville; four grandchildren, Katelyn, Kiana, Kiley and Leah; special nephews, Matt Brown and Casey Brown; special great-nephew, Braxton Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at the Highland Church of Christ in Paintsville. Burial will follow in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville. Jerry Scott will officiate.
