Bobby Fairchild

Bobby Gene Fairchild was born in Winn, Oct. 4, 1937. He graduated from Cumberland High School, Cumberland, and went to college at Del Mar in Corpus Christi, Tex., the University of Alabama, Huntsville, Ala., and Barstow Community College. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1965.

He worked at Bendix Field Engineering Apollo Moon Program, Corpus Christi, Madrid Spain, and Accession Island in Barstow, California. He worked at Texas Instruments Field Engineering until his retirement in 1996. He was also a talented artist in painting and sculpture.

Growing up, his family included his mother, Vicie Estep Fairchild; father, Hubert Fairchild Sr.; brothers, Paul Fairchild (deceased), Gary Fairchild (deceased), Hubert Fairchild (wife, Christine), of Oil Springs, and Sherren Fairchild (wife, Janice), of Oil Springs.

His wife of 65 years, Glenda Barth Fairchild, granted him a son, Bobby Gene Fairchild; and daughter, Carrie Fairchild Demers (husband, Don Demers). His family grew to include five grandchildren: Grant Demers (wife, Ellen), Benjamin Fisher (wife, Fátima), Kristy Demers, Brittani Fisher, Brandi Smith (husband, Brandon Graham.) He had six great grandchildren: Easton Smith, Lucie Demers, Oliver Demers, Blythe Demers, Nikolas Fisher and Emily Fisher; and three step-great-grandchildren: Ava Graham, Chloe Graham and Layla Graham.

A memorial service was held to honor his life from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Beck Funeral Home in Austin, Tex., (15709 Ranch Road 620, Austin, TX 78717.)

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be sent to Ronald McDonald House.

Arrangements were under the direction of Beck Chapels of Austin, Texas.

James Fairchild

James Arthur Fairchild, 77, of Paintsville, died Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his residence.

He was born in Paintsville, June 14, 1945, to the late Son and Myrtle Selvage Fairchild.

In 1967, in Hager Hill, he married Freda Beverly Fairchild who survives.

James was a member of The Father's House of Prayer, a retired heavy equipment operator for Trible B, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Also surviving is one son, James Dwayne Fairchild; three daughters, Crystal Nicole Meade, Shannon Perkins and Sabrina Perkins; four brothers, Lowell Fairchild, Les Fairchild, Lenville Fairchild and Nick Fairchild; two sisters, Naomi Pelphrey and Florence Skaggs; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James is also preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Denise Fairchild (1991); and one sister, Mable Belcher.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2023, at The Father's House of Prayer with Paul Dean Meade officiating. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville. Arrangements were under the direction of Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville.
