Waylon Bayes, of Johnson County, performed before a live audience during the Nov. 30 general session of Kentucky Farm Bureau’s (KFB) 99th annual meeting in Louisville, according to a statement from KFB.

Winner of both the Johnson County and District 10 preliminary Variety Showcases, Bayes was one of 11 acts invited to perform at the state Variety Showcase, according to the statement. The competition, the statement said, is sponsored annually by KFB to support youth achievement in entertainment.

Bayes, who sang “I Am Redeemed,” was awarded a $250 check for being named the district winner of the Variety Showcase, according to the statement.

KFB’s District 10 is a regional grouping of Kentucky counties, consisting of: Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Lawrence, Magoffin, Martin, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Pike, Powell, Rowan and Wolfe.
