Two killed in U.S. 460 crash

Kentucky State Police investigate at the scene of a fatal crash on U.S. 460 near the Johnson/Magoffin County line Thursday. Two Salyersville residents were pronounced dead as a result of the wreck.

Two individuals are deceased after a collision on U.S. 460 near its intersection with Ky. 825 near Oil Springs and the Johnson/Magoffin County line, according to Kentucky State Police.

A news release from KSP said that just before 3:30 p.m., Post 9 was notified of a crash involving a logging truck and a passenger vehicle.

One occupant of the passenger vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and another occupant was transported to Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville, and was later pronounced deceased by the Johnson County Coroner’s office.

The two deceased are Tonya Fletcher, 39, of Salyersville, who troopers say was the driver of the vehicle, and Timothy Rowe, 23, of Salyersville, a passenger. The driver of the log truck survived.

The roadway was closed for several hours as troopers completed preliminary reconstruction work as part of their investigation.

The investigation into the crash and its reconstruction is ongoing by Sargent Dixon.
