Recognizing athletic excellence

Johnson County Judge-Executive Mark McKenzie and City of Paintsville Mayor Bill Mike Runyon signed proclamations on Tuesday, Dec. 3 acknowledging the achievements of both Paintsville High School and Johnson Central High School as district champions and regional champions in their respective KHSAA divisions. The proclamation stated that “attaining gridiron excellence is a primary mission of all high school football programs in Kentucky” and therefore the two community leaders have declared the week of Dec. 2, 2019 as “JCHS Eagles and PHS Tigers Championship Week”. The Tigers will face Pikeville in the 1A division championship on Friday and the Eagles will compete against Boyle County in the 4A division championship on Saturday.
