The Paintsville Independent Schools Board of Education honored retiring Finance Officer David Lemaster at its regular meeting Dec. 10.
During the meeting, Superintendent David Gibson spoke highly of the contributions of Lemaster, praising him for his 31 years of service to the district and how instrumental he has been in its success.
“For the past 18 years, 31 in total, (Lemaster) has served our district as our finance
officer,” said Gibson. “During this time he has been able to successfully manage our district’s finances during some very lean and challenging years. He has always been forthright, honest, and dedicated to the success of our district.”
Gibson said that Lemaster was retiring as of Dec. 31, and said that Lemaster’s presence “will never be duplicated, nor will his true love of our system.
“‘Burr,’ as he is so affectionately known, will retire from our system,” Gibson said. “I have come to cherish and respect our many conversations about how to best navigate our finances and much, much, more. He truly has been the ‘keeper of the gate’ for our system. I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all he has done, for so many, here at Paintsville Independent.”
The Paintsville Independent Schools Board of Education meets on the second Monday of each month at the district offices at 5:15 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
