The Paintsville Independent School Band is returning home this week after being selected to perform at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

Band director April Sexton said Paintsville’s selection was an “extraordinary honor,” given the thorough application process and the company’s high standards for entertainment.

The students spent three days at Disney World, starting with a day at Epcot and their afternoon performance at Disney Springs.

Sexton said the students raised the entire cost of the trip themselves through fundraising efforts and donations — more than $20,000.

“The Paintsville Band would like to thank everyone who gave generously to help make this once-in-a-lifetime trip a reality,” Sexton said in a statement.
