A Staffordsville man was arrested Friday after video surveillance footage from a house on Samuel Drive showed the man breaking in and removing several items from the residence, according to a statement from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
The man, James J. Evans, 47, of Staffordsville, was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on charges of third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief following the call and was released Saturday.
According to Johnson County Sheriff Doug Saylor, an investigation into Evans’ burglary case is ongoing and Deputy Jeff Castle was able to locate and return all of the items taken during the alleged burglary.
The case will be presented to a Johnson County grand jury, with indictment pending, the statement said.
Evans was re-arrested Tuesday, on a charge of contempt of court and remains in custody as of presstime Tuesday.
