A Paintsville couple was arrested on several charges, including child endangerment, after Paintsville Police officers accompanied social workers on a referral call.
According to an arrest citation written by PPD Officer Brian Runyon, Officer Tyler Cable was dispatched to accompany social workers on a referral call at Ponderosa Drive, Paintsville, where it was reported that there were drugs in the residence and a child present.
Upon arrival, Runyon wrote, Cable explained how he observed a “bong-style smoking pipe” with what appeared to be crystal meth inside. A further search, the citation said, revealed more methamphetamine in plain view lying out. as well as marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.
All of these items, Runyon wrote, were out with a child present in the home.
Police charged the child’s parents with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
