2018 Apple Festival draws to a close

Saturday’s afternoon parade and concerts into the night marked the official end of the 2018 Kentucky Apple Festival in style.

With a huge parade and an evening of music headlined by Walker Montgomery, the 56th annual Kentucky Apple Festival is officially in the books.

The Saturday heat did nothing to deter crowds from lining the streets in downtown Paintsville for the parade, with the grand marshals featuring regional, state and international championship teams and individuals from Johnson County Schools. Local first responders, politicians, contest winners, pageant winners, schools, churches and businesses joined in the fun.

On Saturday, Court Street hosted opening acts including Moondogs, Down to the River, Hailey Newman, Colby O’Bryan and Jamie Suttle before Walker Montgomery took the stage.
