John Doug Miller, 47, of Hager Hill, will be the new Head Coach of the Paintsville Tigers’ Baseball Team, according to an official announcement released by the school system Wednesday.
Miller is now preparing to begin his third season as Head Coach of Paintsville’s Middle School Football Program, but he said he was excited about the opportunity to head up the Spring’s baseball program.
“I am honored by Paintsville’s Administration to put their faith in me,” Miller said. “And I hope the parent’s and Tiger baseball fans will get behind me and my staff to help make the program successful.”
Coach Miller recently finished 20 years of successful coaching in the Paintsville Little League organization, and last year led the Paintsville Middle School Baseball Team to a perfect 22-0 undefeated season.
Miller, a 1981 graduate of Paintsville, played 5 seasons of varsity baseball under legendary Coach Charlie Adkins.
He then played for Morehead State University from 1981-1985 at the usual positions of third, first or DH.
He was All-Conference his Junior and Senior seasons, and he led the Conference in hitting in his last three seasons.
Coach Miller said “This all happened very quickly, but I’m looking forward to implementing some new things to continue the proud baseball tradition at Paintsville High School.”
