Buddy Meade
1936-2010
Funeral services were held July 11 at 2 p.m. at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel for Buddy Meade, 73, of Oil Springs, who passed away on July 7 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
He was born August 8, 1936, in Oil Springs, son of the late Lindsey and Gegie Conley Meade.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Buddy Meade Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Baldwin Meade; one son, Mark Anthony Meade, of Oil Springs; three daughters, Mary Ann Blanton, Patricia Rose Dollarhide and Terri Sue Hill, all of Oil Springs; two sisters, Betty Jo Deskins, of Thelma, and Louise Trimble, of Oil Springs; and 11 grandchildren.
Services were conducted by Rev. Wayne Meade Jr., Rev. Lindsey Meade, and Rev. John Frank Meade with burial in the Baldwin Cemetery, Oil Springs.
Arrangements under the direction of Paintsville Funeral Home, Paintsville.
Delbert Meek
1934-2010
Funeral services were held July 7 at 11 a.m. at the Baker Branch Free Will Baptist Church for Delbert Meek, 75, of River, who passed away on July 3 at his residence.
He was born November 17, 1934, in Johnson County, son of the late Elbert and Mary Daniels Meek.
He was a repairman for Westinghouse Electric Company and a member of Baker Branch Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Skinner Meek; one son, Delbert Meek Jr., of Galloway, Ohio; two daughters Sandra Lee Meek, of River, and Patricia Ann Adams, of Columbus, Ohio; seven brothers and sisters, Howard Meek and Dennis Meek, of Columbus, Thomas Meek, of Groveport, Ohio, Londis Meek, of Thealka, Luther Meek, of S.C., Winfrey Meek, of River, and Virgie Brown, of River; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted by Hollie Jay VanHoose and James Roger VanHoose with burial in the Luther Daniel Cemetery, River.
Arrangements under the direction of Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
Louise Lemaster
1926-2010
Funeral services were held July 9 at 2 p.m. at the Paints-ville Funeral Home Chapel for Louise Lemaster, 84, of Ashland, who passed away on July 7 at Kings Daughters Medical Center, Ashland.
She was born April 12, 1926, in Raceland, daughter of the late David and Lettie Skaggs Medley.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgel Lemaster.
She is survived by one brother, David Medley, of Flatwoods, Special-Friend, Christa Salyer, of Flat Gap, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted by Elder Sammy Reed and Elder Willis G. Estep with burial at the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville

Alice Shepherd
1912-2010
Funeral services were held July 13 at 1 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Alice Shepherd, 97, of Hyden, who passed away on July 10 at the Hyden Nursing Home, Hyden.
She was born October 3, 1912, in Sharon Hill, Pa., daughter of the late Walter and Mary Ruch Shepherd.
She was a Christian worker and a member of Aldan Union Church, Aldan, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Walter H. Shepherd II, and a co-worker of many years, Sophia VanHorn.
She is survived by one niece, one nephew, and several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special-friend Clara Jefferis, of Yeaddiss.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to Camp Nathaniel, P.O. Box 129, Emmalena, KY 41740.
Services were conducted by Harold Salyer and Robert Blanton with burial in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Staffordsville.
